The case for this blog

About a month ago I was laid off. It was a good thing. I was feeling stuck and longed to grow professionally. It’s as if I’d been putting a giant “kick me” sign on my back and the universe finally complied. Boom! Out the door.

So what’s next? I’m embarking on a freelance adventure. The idea has been niggling at me for a while. The market looks good — there are many small- and medium-sized businesses in the area that need copywriting and/or marketing communications support but not full time. The business side is a whole other matter. For one thing , it involves math. I’m the kid who started getting physically ill before math class in the second grade.

I decided to document this to keep me accountable and to write frequently, even during business dry spells.

Off we go!
